Performing Arts Medicine MSc

Professional Biography

Sophie is a Specialist Performing Arts and Sport Physiotherapist based on Harley Street and Marylebone, London.

She has previously worked with professional performers based in the West End (inc. War Horse, Matilda, Charlie & The Chocolate Factory, Wicked and Billy Elliot), on Tour with Dirty Dancing and The Lion King. She is heading out to China later this year with 'Cat's' the Musical.

Her Film and TV work includes Strictly Come Dancing, the TV series, Aladdin the new feature film which is currently in post production, and she spent 2 months out in Austria on Channel 4's 'The Jump'.

She completed the Performing Arts Medicine MSc at UCL in 2013, and has been lucky enough to go back and guest lecture on the course. Sophie says: "It’s so exciting to see this industry grow and develop and to work with professionals so passionate in their individual fields. I loved how the course helped me develop my skills, linking together my sports medicine background and passion of the performing arts. The course has opened doors into the performing arts world, which I am so excited to be a part of, and to be a part of the ever growing and developing world".

Before this she worked alongside Saracens Academy RFC, and set up a Physiotherapy practice up in the 'Portes Du Soleil, Switzerland' where she worked during the winter season, with skiiers/snowboarders.

Her clinical interests lie within the Lower Limb, the Knee, Foot & Ankle, and she has an interest in Hypermobility. She also enjoys functional strength training and rehabilitation, with her MSc research thesis looking into "The Effect of a Plyometric Training Programme on Jump Height in Dancers".
