With physical inactivity moving higher and higher up the Public Agenda, an increasing number of organisations are looking for ways to tackle this complex challenge.

The ISEH along with London Sport are proud to be the lead supporters of Elevate, an event taking place at Olympia London at on 4 and 5 May 2016 which will explore the ways in which exercise, health and performance connect.

It will bring together industry leaders, academics, practitioners, policy makers and performance experts to focus on getting the nation moving including ISEH consultant Dr Mike Loosemore, who will be discussing the importance of physical activity for the health and wellbeing of children, along with the ways in which we can target sedentary behaviours.

The free-to-attend event will bring together academia, healthcare, government, the physical activity sector and performance experts to focus on this increasingly important and complex societal challenge. At ISEH, our vision is to be the leading institute for sports and exercise medicine in the world. An event like Elevate represents a significant opportunity to simulate further collaboration between healthcare, sport scientists and physical activity providers. We are delighted to play a leading role so whilst tickets are still available we highly recommend registering now.

Prof Fares Haddad, ISEH Clinical Director said: “The ISEH aims to translate between elite sport, amateur sports and exercise prescription; with the ultimate aim of both health and performance gains. We are pleased to support Elevate because we believe London is the best place for the major stakeholders to learn more about the ways in which exercise, health and performance connect.’’

Thousands of these professionals will gather over the course of two days, with Elevate welcoming more than 4,000 visitors, all benefiting from an extensive seminar programme and exhibition boasting 100’s of speakers and exhibitors. Experts will be able to provide and translate the most up to date findings from research to which directly work towards impacting on the health of the nation.

Speakers from organisations including Public Health England, Sport and Recreation Alliance, TFL, Sheffield Hallam University, EIS, Nuffield Health, and GlaxoSmithKline Human Performance Lab will provide complimentary seminars, encouraging debate and an open forum to discuss key issues affecting the heath and performance of the nation.

Max Quittenton, Director of Elevate, comments: “Tackling physical inactivity is widely recognised as politically, economically and socially more important than ever.  An independently researched, balanced, free-to-attend event of scale, in London, will help accelerate progress first regionally, then nationally and in the near future internationally. We really value the support of ISEH and London Sport and feel that our aim of creating an event which places direct focus on the issue of inactivity to share best practice, evidence and innovation is well aligned to both organisations. The response so far has been fantastic: a large number of the most influential brands, experts and organisations are already supporting the event.”
